Ranbir's Bombay Velvet Ads Discontinued In Newspapers
Anurag Kashyap's wounds just got deeper. Fox Star Studios, which produced Bombay Velvet, has discontinued the film's listings in the print media.
 
This has come as a shocker in the industry. 
 
Won't this inconvenience cinema goers? "Look, the film has been removed from most theatres. It is one of the biggest debacles in the history of Bollywood. How do you justify the insertion of listings in such a scenario?" trade analyst Amod Mehra points out. 
 
Reacting to the disappearance of the ads, film critic Komal Nahata says, "It's all over bar the shouting for Bombay Velvet."  


 
"Do you know that we decreased Bombay Velvet shows much before its first week ended and increased the shows of Piku to fill in the vacant slots? And do you know that we had decreased the Piku shows to accommodate Bombay Velvet thinking that Ranbir's film will be a hot cake at the ticket windows? Let me also tell you that we have discontinued the film from Friday in most multiplexes of our chain except where we can accommodate it comfortably," says an official from Fun Cinemas, on condition of anonymity.
 
SpotboyE.com has it that PVR Cinemas too has barely one/two shows of Bombay Velvet running at most of its outlets. "The film has generated a very poor response at the ticket windows. We are not surprised that its listings have gone off print."
